Russia took the third place on inflow of direct foreign investments and the fourth place on investments into economy of other countries. Positions of the country improved generally thanks to one large deal.
The rating of the powers most attractive to investments and the most generous states investors contains in the report for 2013, prepared by Conference of the UN on trade and development (UNCTAD). Authors note that careful optimism comes back to the global market of direct foreign investments: the total amount of investments for 2013 grew by 9%, to 1,45 trillion dollars, and the UNCTAD predicts that within 3 next years this figure will grow – to 1,6 trillion in the 2014th, to 1,7 trillion in the 2015th and to 1,8 trillion dollars in 2016. The main role in ensuring this dynamics it is the share of developing economy: it is the share of them the attracted 54% of cash flows (778 billion dollars) and 39% of own investments into economy of other countries.
In regional aspect it is quite expected the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) countries are in the lead. In the first five on attraction of investments from abroad – three countries consisting in APEC: China (the second place), Russia (third) and Hong Kong (fourth). In the first five of the countries investors – from APEC whole four: Japan, China, Russia and Hong Kong (places from the second on the fifth). In both ratings is in the lead the USA.
Exit of Russia to the third place it is caused by the one and only event - the transaction of "Rosneft" and BP on acquisition of the TNK-BP company which has taken place in March, 2013: I received 16,65 billion dollars and 12,84% of actions of "Rosneft" for the share of BP, having become, thus second-large (after Rosneftegaz state company) the shareholder of the Russian company from shares in 19,75%. This event also helped Russia to rise significantly in both ratings. As a whole the volume of the Russian investments into economy of other countries grew almost twice (from 49 billion to 95 bln. dollars), and the attracted investments grew from 51 billion dollars in 2012 to 79 billion dollars.
However in the next years of transactions of such scale it isn't expected, and our country will naturally fall by more modest places. As it is noted in the UNCTAD report, because of strain of relations between Russia and the European Union on a problem of Ukraine, indicators of the Russian Federation for the next year can even fall. However, even if the transaction with BP wouldn't be, the tendency to growth of foreign investments in 2013 would all the same be observed, let and in much more modest option – it is possible to remember, for example, the bargain concluded in September, 2013 between the Russian direct investment fund and Finance department of Abu Dhabi, providing allocation to 5 billion dollars on a construction of infrastructure projects in Russia.
